Papua New Guinea is not a place to check out for nightlife, hotels and restaurants. It is still a developing country and when you arrive in Port Moresby, the capital, first impression is a city under the stress of growth. Papua New Guinea has still got problems on a political front and lacks the police to control it. It has an interesting colonisation of the 16th century, and is one of the few places originally colonised in south East Asia by the Germans. If you like trekking it is a great place to check out however most places are inaccessible and you might need alternatives such as flying to reach certain locations. It’s a beautiful country so I hope things will get more accessible in the future. It also has an interesting history to Australia, where the locals “fuzzy wuzzies” helped fend off the Japanese with the Australian ANZAC forces. A lot of Australians go here to pay their respects to the men that gave their lives and on the Kokoda trail, which is regarded as one of the greatest treks in the world. It is Challenge, and is only for people that are fit.
